I usually wait for public holiday announcements to plan and pack bags to visit faraway lands - this was pre-pandemic. This year, when the 5 days Eid Al Fitr break was announced in the UAE, I was perplexed not sure how to spend time. But, to be very honest, it was awesome. Thanks to my dear friends, see what I did with my friends and family to enjoy our Eid break in Dubai.

Feel the adrenaline rush at Dubai Autodrome

Our first visit to the Autodrome was this year during Eid. We enjoyed both indoor and outdoor kartdromes. Wearing the special racing attire and helmet, we completely transform our looks to professional race car drivers. Children below 13 can do indoor karting and others can do both indoor and outdoor.

My son loved his karting, doesn't he look like a pro in these pictures, but with a mask in hand..lol!! Need of the hour, isn't it?

Each karting session is for 15 minutes. You can book online, show your ID proof at the counter, get your racing gears and get set gooo...whroooommm!!!

We tried our bit on the outdoor kartdrome. It wasn't as easy as I thought it would be. Having a drivers license or experience of driving cars on the road has nothing to do with racing - I realized it that day!! Speed and control on steering wheel with all the heavy attire, helmet, hand gloves...and then the steep curves and turns on the race track, makes it a bit strenuous task to achieve. Undoubtedly, its a great experience.

A long drive to Wadi Shees

We drove to Wadi Shees near Khorfakan with friends. Its about an hour and half from Dubai and is a nice place to visit. We skipped the Shees park, and directly drove to the Wadi. This place has an easy trekking trail where we can see houses, water ponds, date palm and mango orchards, rocks to climb etc.

Enjoy the thrilling rides at Motiongate

Well, this one was particularly interesting. Lots of thrilling rides at Motiongate in Dubai Parks and Resorts. We got a super deal on tickets and the less crowded day (Ramadan fasting was still going on) was a bonus as we hardly had to wait in queue for any ride.

Nothing stopped us from repeating the most interesting rides, and it was fun and excitement in abundance.

Midnight visit to Kite Beach

Kite Beach an interesting location for all beach lovers. The beach is clean, with many different options to engage kids with gams, small eateries, jogging tracks and lot more. The beach is superbly well maintained and has decent changing rooms also.

We have been here many times, but this time chose to go late night with a bunch of dear friends. Every time I am in the beach water, I curse myself for not learning to swim. My friends, hubby, son all know and they enjoy more than me, by beating the waves to swim in the Gulf waters. Well, I don't miss the opportunity to climb on my hubby's back for a free water ride while he swims :) - how can one say no to his wife :)

This time it was a full moon night, and the sparkling sea water lit up by the moonlight was awesome.

Dash into a sports bar with friends

Who wouldn't love an enjoyable night with friends at a pub or sports bar? Dubai has plenty of options to choose from and its always fun there with the drinks of your choice and pub food to enjoy.

Tickle your brain at an Escape Room

This was my first experience of an escape room game and found it quite interesting. There are many in Dubai and we chose Escape Reality, near First Abudhabi Metro station on the Sheikh Zayed Road.

So, book online by choosing any game, each of which has its own difficulty level and allowed number of players. Most of the games are themed on Hollywood movies, books, TV series or so. We chose one which was themed on Game of Thrones. The players will be locked in a room which has clues hidden all over. Use your instincts and brain to find and decode the clues which are scattered all around the room, and succeed to the subsequent rooms, and finally unlock the last door to find your way out in an hours time. Don't worry, if you did not finish it on time, there is someone to assist you out :)

Visit the 'pawesome' place to enjoy with furry friends

This one was not visited during the Eid break, but I thought to add it for the pet lovers here.

'Pet Me' is located on the ground floor of Oasis Centre, Dubai. Its a fantastic place to spend time with cute furry friends. We have to make a payment to spend 30 min to play with pet dogs. They have a schedule published on their website, where we can choose the slot to play with small, medium or large dogs.

We visited here twice to play with small and medium dogs. My favourite experience was indeed with the small ones. They are so cute that you don't want to leave the place even after 30 minutes. You can play, feed, see the tricks, give some treats to the cute fellows running around and playing with you.

I wasn't particularly interested, but just visited to accompany my son and his friends who are ardent dog lovers. My first visit here made me realise how much of a pet lover I am!! Until recently, I never felt like owning a pet, but my son started influencing me by showing cute pet videos, movies etc. A visit to this place made me make my mind to buy a doggie, but haven't decided when to buy :) I held a Shih Tzu pup in my arms, for the first time ever in life. These puppies are so adorable, and so irresistible :)

Feast on some yummy crepes and heavy ice creams

The picture will speak for itself :)

Night walk and cycling at District One

Well, this one is particularly interesting. The District One near Meydan, Dubai has a really nice jogging and cycling track. Its less crowded, open, peaceful and well maintained. We chose to visit this place first time very late at night for a walk. We walked around 7 km. The jogging track is towards villa side or the Meydan race course bridge and Burj Khalifa view side.

Later, after a week, we visited the place again at night, but this time for cycling. Those who have their own bikes can get it and ride here. Those who don't, can rent one from Loop Cafe. The track is amazing at night well lit, well maintained, tunnels and beautiful views of villas and mansions in the neighborhood. It is close to 9 km long and very well done. For those who love to cycle, this place is a must visit.

Rent and ride a super car

A U drive (car rental in Dubai) Ford Mustang was spotted next to our parking and then all of a sudden made a plan to rent and drive it on the Emirates Road where we can speed up to 120 kmph. The pops and bangs give a race car drive feel on the road as we speed to 120 kmph on the ultra fine and spectacular roads of Dubai.

This one wasn't my idea at all!!! It was of my dear friends Param and Sisira. I would call them 'activity enthusiasts' :) and many of the above were their plans during the Eid break.

So, I had a lot of reasons to enjoy the Eid Al Fitr holidays, and now waiting for the next one! Dubai is indeed a wonderful city, has multitude of options to keep ourselves busy and entertained. It was interesting to read the tagline that was flashed everywhere in the city as we are fight the pandemic - 'we are all responsible'. Yes, that so true and we all have our small part to play to overcome this situation. btw, would like to mention that we had lowered the face masks only to click photos during our trips and that too with our fully vaccinated friends :) Stay Safe Friends!!!
