Karibu Kenya!!

Wild life safari in Masai Mara - that was the only thought in mind when we planned Kenya. Our itinerary for the 4 days trip was

1) Lake Naivasha

2) Cresent Island

3) Masai Mara - Keekorok Safari Lodge

After landing at Nairobi, we were picked up by our very friendly tour guide in a safari van and we drove and checked in to Naivasha Country Club. The best part is that as soon as we exit the airport, we get to see the wildlife in Nairobi. Naivasha Country Club is a beautiful resort by the side of Lake Naivasha, which is part of the Great Rift Valley. We had a good dinner and peaceful sleep for our Kenyan expedition from the next day.

Next day, we had our boating in the lake and then a walking trip in the Crescent Island. The boat ride in the lake was too good early morning with fresh air, chirping birds, water hippos and lot of wild life all around. After about a 30 min ride in the lake, we landed on the Crescent Island where there are many Giraffe, Zebra, Wildebeest, Wild boar etc. Since there are no carnivorous animals on this island, it is possible for tourists to walk around and have a closer look at the wildlife here. It was an amazing experience.

We then headed to our destination - Masai Mara - for the much awaited game drives and stay in a safari lodge within the Savannas. A long drive over the main road and then through the muddy unpaved roads to reach Masai Mara.

We first visited a village of the Masai to see them closer, their day to day life and activities. The Masai did a traditional dance for us and we also met the elder Masai of the village and visited a few houses. Kids were eager to have the chocolates we took for them with us and our son had a nice time too.

As soon as we reached Masai Mara, we started to encounter the great African Elephants, Antelopes, Giraffes and Zebras. We checked in to Keekorok Resort which is a splendid safari lodge amidst the vast grassland.

The game drive in the evening was our first wildlife safari experience and it was truly amazing. Experience the wilderness right in the middle of the jungle and grassland. Encounter The Big Five - Lion, Cheetah, Elephant, Rhino, Wild Buffalo

We caught close sight of all except Rhino.

Apart from the big five, you can see herds of antelopes, ostriches flocks of a wide variety of birds, eagles and vultures, scavengers like hyena, wolf etc.

The next day was an early morning safari to the wild to see the morning views of Masai Mara. The extensive grassland with lonely Acacia trees and thousands of animals, the sunrise views and birds; so pleasant and amazing...we caught sight of many scavengers in the morning game drive, like Hyenas and Vultures who were enjoying the left over of the hunted animal remains from previous night. The Lions and Lionesses taking rest after feasting on the hunted animal meat...

After having a sumptuous lunch back in the lodge,we walked around to explore the resort

Our son with his dear Masai friend!

Post lunch, was the next game drive into the wild!!! how exciting!!!!!!!!

Our friendly guide at Masai Mara

We did a picture stop at a view point to the Great Rift Valley. It was quite interesting to realise the fact that we saw the same Rift Valley from Jordan in Asia and now another part of it from Kenya in Africa!
