We made our beautiful family trip to Delhi Agra and Jaipur way back in October 2012. We flew from Dubai to Delhi and parents from Kochi to Delhi. We reached 2 days earlier, so made our short visits, while they joined us.
Day 1 - Purana Qila
Well, the mode of transport to explore Delhi was Cycle rikshaw, CNG autorikshaw, metro. We loved all the rides and visited the Purana Qila. This fort is said to be inhabited for more than 2500 years. Also known as Indraprasta, the capital of Pandavas of the great epic Mahabharata.

Then we visited the ISKCON temple. ISKCON temple hails Lord Krishna and is situated around the globe. The beautiful temple complex in Delhi gives a calm environment to pray and spend a nice evening
By later in the evenig, we made our way to the iconic India Gate, which is a war memorial paying tributes and salutes to the priceless valor and courage of the brave soldiers of India and is situated along Rajpath. The Amar Jawan Jyoti , flame of the immortal soldier is erected here to commemorate the martyrs of the great Indian Army.
Day 2 - Bangla Saheb Gurudwara
We started off the day with a visit to the golden domed Bangla Saheb Gurudwara. We offered our prayers and then set off to the Lodhi Gardens. This is a posh area of Delhi and the garden is a nice get away from the city's crowd.

Next, we visited the Safdarjang's Tomb. The typical crimson colored tomb and its surroundings are interesting to visit.

The National Rail Museum displays various exhibits of the rail history of India.

Day 3 - Qutb Minar
Day 3 was particularly exciting as our family joined us from Kochi and our family is now complete for the rest of the journey. We started off with a visit to Shri Laxmi Narayan Temple. Beautiful temple complex to pay a visit and offer prayers.
We, then, visited Teen Murti Bhavan, which used to be the residence of India's first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru. Today, this is a museum and houses a number of mementos.

We took a ride around the most important buildings of The Indian Parliament, Rashtrapathi Bhavan and later visited the Indira Gandhi Memorial.
Indira Gandhi Memorial houses a lot of photographs, personal items of Indira Gandhi and her family. We can see the saree, sandals, bag which she used on the day she was assassinated. The path where she took her final steps and the spot where she fell are also conserved as memorial monuments.

Later, we visited the iconic Qutb Minar. The minaret was constructed by Qutubuddin Aibak. This site is UNESCO World Heritage site.

The last leg of the day was to visit the historical Humayun's Tomb. The typical Mughal architecture hosts the tomb of the Mughal Emperor Humayun.

Day 4 - Mathura
We bid farewell to Delhi, the Indraprasta of India, and set off to Agra via Mathura. We drove on the Yamuna Express Road to visit the historical site of Uttar Pradesh.
Mathura is the birthplace of Lord Shri Krishna. The birthplace is located inside the Krishna Janmasthan Temple. The famous Vrindavan is very close to Mathura.
The sweet delight 'peda' is a must try from Mathura, made from authentic desi ghee and milk. After spending time in Mathura, we drove to Agra and reached there by evening.
Day 5 - The Taj Mahal
The next day, early morning, we visited the wonder of the world, the monument of eternal love - The Taj Mahal. This monument of love made with white marble was erected by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan in the memories of his beloved wife Mumtaz Mahal. The mausoleum on the banks of River Yamuna has the tombs of both Shah Jahan and his wife Mumtaz Mahal.

Passing by the Agra Fort, we then visited Fatehpur Sikri - The capital of Mughal empire under the reign of Akbar the Great. A lot of important monuments and sites are within this old city. Buland Darwaza, Jama Masjid, Dargah of the Sufi Saint Salim Chisti, Panch Mahal, the palaces of the wives of Akbar, Birbal's house etc.
Agra is famous for 'petha' a sweet dish prepared in various flavours and colours.

Day 6 - Jaipur, The Pink City
We drove towards the Pink City of Jaipur, the Capital of the state of Rajastan. The city welcomed us with its charm and we started off with our exploration of sites and spicy Rajastani food.
We visited Hawa Mahal which has an extraordinary architecture, colour and grace
We then visited the famous Amber Fort, also known as Amer Fort, which houses the Sheesh Mahal - A hall of mirrors, which is mind blowing.

Jantar Mantar - There were 5 of them constructed by Maharaja Jai Singh, the biggest one in Jaipur and is a UNESCO heritage site. This site has the largest sun dial and various yantras for astronomical calculations. These are used to predict the movement of planetary bodies.

Next, we drove uphill to Nahargarh Fort and later to Birla Mandir.

The final and the most exciting part of our trip to Jaipur was the visit to Choki Dhani, where we can feel the flavors and ambiance of rural Rajastan. Lots of local food, folk dance, henna and lot of fun.
